Quiet Tree
Quiet Tree are Simon Spiess (reeds), Jonas Ruther (drums) and Marc Méan (p,synth). The trio’s music is rooted in the rich soil of this thing that could probably best be described as jazz. If you follow the tree metaphor along the trunk, however, more ramified analogies emerge: The crown reaches for the cosmic dimensions of the unreasonable and at the same time opens up to all kinds of sonic futures and echoes of otherworldly worlds. After all, music can never go wrong when it conveys an awareness of space. Or in short: 80s pop warmth with a space-jazz approach, which is lifted somewhere around the year 2040 and transported back. The main focus of the three Swiss musicians is on working with the song form. Each band member is responsible for submitting compositions and each piece is given a slight, improvisational facelift as they play. The manifesto is clear: to tell multifaceted stories through sound and to capture color and energy with melodies, deep into the ground and up to the highest peaks at the same time.
