Löwenzahnhonig
Löwenzahnhonig are Fai Baba, Long Tall Jefferson and Paul Märki; are Fabian Sigmund, Simon Borer and Paul Märki. They are two singer-songwriters who don’t sing in this project (except once, as a wordless male choir with lots of reverb), and a bassist who sits on the drums in between. The band is said to have played their first chords at a casual jam in Zurich around two years ago, and after a year of further jams realized that they were now actually a band. Or so the legend goes.
And what does it sound like? Exactly, like honey, rather creamy, sometimes a little sluggish, poppy and super sweet. It remains to be seen how much the three were consciously following in the footsteps of bands like Khruangbin from the very beginning, or whether the success of the Hermanos Gutierrez inspired them, whether jazz or blues musicians with melodic-relaxed DNA were the inspiration. In any case, the trio’s music is VERY laid-back. The sweetness of the licks goes as far as kitsch, the tempo never picks up, but is never completely off. It’s like honey: sometimes the sweetness tips over into stickiness. But it’s always good to have some in the storage rack.
Löwenzahnhonig make melodies for daydreamers, imaginary drone flights, cuddling and “stay out of the world” moments.
