Simone Felbers iheimisch

Simone Felber’s iheimisch is the main and heartfelt project of one of the most prominent and controversial voices in new Swiss folk music. Together with the renowned instrumentalists Rafael Jerjen (double bass) Polina Niederhauser (cello) and Adrian Würsch (Schwyzerörgeli), the yodeler, songwriter and choir director Simone Felber (including hedi drescht and Echo vom Eierstock) explores the potential of new folk with iheimisch.

With the new production Totätanz, the ensemble confronts a universal but taboo subject: our own mortality. iheimisch tackles this sombre subject with ease and writes sophisticated contemporary folk music about dying and how we deal with it. The result is dance songs that question the Swiss culture of dying and mourning and are comforting and timelessly beautiful precisely because of their positivity.
