The Harvest Time Experiment
The Harvest Time Experiment is an ever-changing live version of Pharoah Sanders’ legendary track “Harvest Time” from the seminal 1977 album “Pharoah”, recently re-released on LuakaBop, of which there is also an iconic live recording from the 1977 Willisau Jazz Festival. The Harvest Time Project is never performed twice in the same way or with the same group and is therefore more of an experience than a cover version of a song. However, all performances feature the album’s legendary original guitarist, Tisziji Muñoz, and musical director Joshua Abrams of Natural Information Society. Tisziji Muñoz, avant-garde jazz virtuoso and extreme guitarist, is best known for his unique, original guitar sound and playing style, which has been likened to that of a spiritual tornado. His career spans more than fifty years, and he has received unqualified praise from artists and peers such as Rashied Ali, Paul Shaffer, Pharoah Sanders and John Medeski, to name a few. Musical director Joshua Abrams is a composer, bassist and improviser. A founding member of The Roots, Abrams has been a key figure in Chicago’s creative music scene since the mid-1990s and is an internationally active musician who tours with artists of various genres.
